Privacy Screen for Gmail by Chameleon - Browser Extension

Nothing is collected automatically. All email processing happens locally in your browser, and no email content ever leaves your device. The only data we receive is what you explicitly choose to submit.

What the extension does

Chameleon adds four viewing modes to Gmail (Privacy Screen, Reader Mode, Font Size, and Focus) that change how email is displayed on your screen. Modes alter only the visual presentation using CSS and font substitution, entirely on the client side. The original email data stored by Gmail is never modified, copied, or transmitted.

Data collected automatically

None.

Data you can choose to submit

The extension makes no network requests except when you explicitly submit one of the following. Each is optional and sent only on your action. Along with what you submit, we receive standard technical metadata (browser type and submission time), which we use to filter spam and understand which platforms need attention.

Where submitted data is stored

Submitted data is sent to our own API and stored on our own infrastructure (Microsoft Azure, EU). It is used only to improve the product and to contact you if you asked for updates. We never sell data, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising.

Data deletion

To have any submitted data deleted, email us at [email protected] and we will remove it.

Local storage

The extension uses chrome.storage.local to save your preferences: active viewing modes, font size level, reader theme, and small UI flags (for example, whether the optional survey was already shown). This data stays on your device.

Permissions

Children's privacy

The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
